Program Overview

The Certified Hair and Scalp Disorder Specialist 2025 program is designed for MDs, PAs, NPs, and RNs. It focuses on advanced diagnostics, medical-grade treatments, and surgical hair restoration techniques. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose, manage, and treat hair and scalp disorders in a clinical setting, while also exploring nutrition, ethics, and professional development.

Module 2 – Variation in Hair by Race

• Characteristics of African, Asian, and Caucasian hair

• Moisture retention and porosity differences

• Cultural sensitivity in treatment

Module 3 – Scarring vs. Non-Scarring Alopecia

• Definition and characteristics of scarring alopecias

• Causes: inflammatory, trauma, infection

• Types: Lichen Planopilaris, Discoid Lupus Erythematosus, Folliculitis Decalvans, CCCA, FFA

• Definition and characteristics of non-scarring alopecias

• Types: Androgenetic Alopecia, Telogen Effluvium, Alopecia Areata, Traction Alopecia, Anagen Effluvium, Trichotillomania
